Onside View’s resident football tipster, James Robinson, turns his sights to Inter Milan’s crunch European game with Real Madrid at the Giuseppe Meazza.
This tie might as well be the final for Inter Milan and Real Madrid. Propping up Group B, behind Shakhtar and Borussia Mönchengladbach, these storied European names find themselves with a much-needed shot at redemption. Whichever team loses will be surely banished to the doldrums of the Europa League, at best! And that just simply isn’t good enough for two of football’s all-conquering giants.
Until Sunday’s game against Torino, Inter hadn’t won in 4 – and they managed to make heavy work of that, requiring 4 second-half goals in 26 minutes to overturn a shock 2-0 lead from “the other” team in Turin. Real Madrid haven’t won since their 3-2 war of attrition with Inter, and Los Blancos were humbled 4-1 by Valencia days later. Possibly a hangover?
It won’t shock anyone if this game is a carbon copy of the first, so backing over 4.5 goals @3/1 with Bet365 is about the best value out there, but it’s risky.
Every sportsbook is rightly covering itself heavily on their being a glut of goals and cards, so finding value in this tie is extremely difficult. It’s occasions like this when being more specific, and applying football knowledge, can work well in your favour.
So, what do we know? We know that where a loss for Zidane could get him sacked, there is slightly less pressure on Conte. With that in mind, I’d have to say that, psychologically speaking, Inter can be a little more free to play their football. Lukaku was instrumental in Inter’s comeback against Torino, scoring and assisting twice. So building your bet with Inter (win), Lukaku (score anytime) and BTTS @18/5 with William Hill shouldn’t be sniffed at.
Sergio Ramos is out for Real Madrid, which is a massive miss. However, Casimero is back after his positive coronavirus test, and will add much of the central steel and aggression they lose in Ramos’ absence. Both teams are ultra hot-headed, and with the stakes so high, the chances of this game boiling over are almost palpable. Backing a red card in the game @3/1 with Bet65 is as solid as it gets.
